Ear reshaping
People who don’t like the hereditary position or shape of their areas often want to have their ears reshaped. Our plastic surgeon is most often contacted by patients who are worried about their protruding ears. These days it is easy to pin back protruding ears with corrective surgery. In addition to adults, the surgery is also performed on youngsters aged under 18, from the age of 7.

If you have decided to have your ears reshaped, please book a consultation with our specialist where we will discuss your expectations and how they can be met with surgery.
During the consultation, which lasts about an hour, the doctor will give you a detailed description of what happens before and after the surgery as well as the surgery itself. We will make the necessary tests, ask you about your health and habits, and answer all of your questions. It is important for us to know about your allergies, smoking and other health-related habits.
Ear reshaping surgery
Ear reshaping surgery takes about one to two hours and we usually perform it under local anaesthesia.
The incision will be made behind the ear so that the scar will be as hidden as possible. After the ear is correctly pinned back, the incision is closed with stitches and a compression bandage is tied around your head, as it will help reduce swelling and bleeding.
The doctor will examine you again a couple of hours after the surgery and discharge you from the clinic on the same day. A little pain is natural after surgery. Children are less likely to experience pain than adults. You will be given painkillers if necessary and although people have a different tolerance for pain, our patients usually don’t need painkillers for more than two days.
Wound care
You ear area and head will be bandaged and sensitive after the surgery. The compression bandage must be kept on for up to two weeks, both night and day. You should keep your ears as dry as possible and under the compression bandage for a week.
You should really look after your head and ear area well for two months after the surgery. During this time we don’t advise you to stretch the scars, lift heavy items, exercise vigorously or go to the sauna. Although vigorous exercise is not advisable, moderate physical exercise helps improve circulation and speed up recovery.
Smoking causes wounds to heal considerably slower, which is why we advise you to quit smoking for at least a month before and after the surgery.
Scars
Unfortunately, it is impossible to make incisions without leaving scars, but the scars that look dark at first will fade and become less noticeable in time. We advise using the wound gels available in pharmacies to accelerate healing. Use silicone bandages, which are also sold in pharmacies, to avoid keloid.
We advise you to protect yourself from direct sunlight for a couple of months after the surgery, because the influence of sun radiation on the skin pigment may turn the scar darker and more noticeable.
Final result
The results of ear reshaping are immediately visible, as the position and shape of the ears have noticeably changed. Achievement of the final result will take a couple of months. Your ears will look natural and beautiful after reshaping.
